1930's Whiting and Davis mesh handbag. Marked "Whiting and Davis" on inside of frame. Small gold mesh evening bag with gold tone frame, latch and original handle. Lined in peach taffeta. 1940's Glass beaded evening bag. No maker's labels remaining- looks like Walborg. Box style handbag with beaded handle. Jet black glass beads. Metal zipper top, lined in black silk satin. In good condition, there is a single line of missing beads along the bottom edge of bag. Lining is all in tact, and in nice shape. 1950's Hand painted and decorated Soure' bag. "Soure' Bags New York" label. In absolutely pristine condition, looks like new. The bag is made of a linen like burlap fabric with vinyl covered handle, frame and piping along the sides. The front of the bag has hand painted scene of branches, vines, flowers and an exotic bird. Some of flowers have yarn and gold foil embroidery, some of the flowers and branches are studded with gold beads and jeweled. Of course the exotic bird is embroidered and beaded. The bag is a wheat colored linen like burlap fabric on back, sides and bottom. Bottom has 4 gold tone feet. Bag is lined in cream faux shantung. This bag is a work of art and in like new condition, but does have a faint remnant of a spill on the back of the bag, not noticeable. For a larger view click here. For a back/side view click here.
