1950's Printed Silk Dress with Back Pleating Detail

No labels found, has paper union tag. Coral red silk shantung dress with gorgeous floral print in lavender, plum, white, and light and darker green. The dress is styled to look like a slim-fitting sheath in front, but has gorgeous bustle-like pleating detail on back skirt along with a slightly plunging back neckline, and bow at back center waist. This is a very Luis Estevez like style detail, and very feminine. The dress is lined in matching coral red silk, and fastens in back with a hidden metal zipper and hidden snaps for the waist treatment. Excellent condition with the exception of 3 very small "clear" water like spots on the lining and a tiny seam/stitch separation at back neckline corner. Size small, measures 15 1/2" shoulder to shoulder edge, up to 34" bust, up to 25' waist, 34" hips, 15 1/2" shoulder to waist, and 26" waist to hem. For a larger front view click here. 1950's Luis Estevez Kimono Inspired Dress with Plunging Back and Satin Sash

"Estevez Grenelle" label. Late 50's to early 60's. A matte black silk blend crepe. A very fitted and curvy design with pleating under bust and below waist at sides, and plunging V back neckline with pleating. A matte gray silk satin sash finishes with look, with the sash falling in two layers down side of skirt. Sash is decoratively pleated across top. Dress is lined in black silk, and fastens with back metal zipper. In very good-excellent condition. Size medium. 1950's Frank Starr Silk Print Dress with Decorative Pleating

"Frank Starr Original" and "Designer Shop, Chas. A. Stevens & Co. Chicago" labels. A gorgeous navy blue silk hourglass dress with floral print in aqua blue, violet blue, and olive green. The dress is styled with a scoop neckline and cap sleeves. There is decorative pleating across the bodice front bust down to waist. The pleating just below the bust creates a "shelf". There are a set of pleats below waist seam, too. The dress is lined in navy silk, and fastens with back metal zipper. In excellent condition with very little wear, only flaw is a small pea sized faint spot on bodice pleat, not noticeable. Size medium. 1960's Matte Jersey Cocktail Dress with Pleating and Watteau Back

No labels found, beautifully made. This reminds me of Givenchy. A matte black silk or silk blend jersey dress with shapely fitted silhouette and dramatic pleated back drape panel. The dress is very curvy, has scoop neckline and cap sleeves. The bust has decorative vertical ruching or pleating, and a self panel of fabric under bust to accentuate. The back upper bodice is also decoratively pleated, and the front panel extends around to back. Under this panel is a long pleated drape that is attached under the hem. The dress is lined in black light-weight taffeta, and fastens with side metal zipper placket. A beautifully made dress with lots of couture hand details, and in excellent to mint condition, front seams show a bit of stress but are strong. Size small. 1950's Saks Fifth Avenue  Two-Piece Silk Chiffon Dress

"Figurine Size, Saks Fifth Avenue" label, late 1950's. A fitted hourglass style dress with draped neckline, wide inset waist band on top, and light pleating around the waist. The top is actually separate, and has it's own back metal zipper. The pretty print is an impressionistic floral print, in watery shades of aqua, turquoise, mauve pink, and apricot with a tiny bit of white. The dress is fully lined in matching sea foam rayon crepe. The dress fastens with back  metal zipper. In absolutely excellent condition-pristine. Size medium. Measures 37-38" bust, 28" waist, 38" hips, 16" shoulder to waist, 25" waist to hem.
